| OBJECTIVES AND
HISTORY: |

The 2011 Canadian Congress of Applied Mechanics (2011 CANCAM) will be held from Sunday, June 5 through Thursday June 9, 2011 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, is delighted to host the Congress. This is the 23rd CANCAM in a series of biennial conferences, which began in 1967 at l'Université Laval. The Congress will provide a national and international forum for presenting the most recent advances in the field of Applied Mechanics and related areas. Also, the Congress will facilitate and promote information exchange among participants from industry, research laboratories, government organizations, and academia.

The official languages of the CANCAM are
English and French. Simultaneous translation services will not
be available. Papers may be written or presented in English or
French |

| PAPER
SUBMISSION: |
|
Original short papers (FOUR pages in length) are sought. Please submit your paper in the pdf format to the appropriate Track for consideration. Upon acceptance, the authors will be requested to provide FOUR-page camera-ready papers in the MSWord format. The accepted papers will be scheduled for presentation and will appear in the Proceedings of the 2011 CANCAM. Please see Important Dates for the deadlines for submission, notification of acceptance, and registration. |

If you wish to organize an invited session (consisting of five papers) please submit your proposal to a relevant track chair. If a track chair is not listed for your subject, please submit your session proposal to the Program Chair. |

| PROCEEDINGS & PRESENTATIONS: |
|
The accepted papers will be scheduled for presentation and will appear in the Proceedings of the 2011 CANCAM. Each presentation will be 18 minutes in duration. Papers accepted for presentation will appear in the proceedings, which will be available at the time of the Congress. |

IN VANCOUVER: |

Vancouver has one of the most pleasant climates
in Canada! In Summer, the days are usually long, warm and sunny.
Nights are cool and clear. Spring and Fall are also comfortable,
with moderate temperatures and occasional rain. Snow can sometimes
occur briefly during December and January. |
